Commissions and councils
IWAS Wheelchair Fencing’s job as the global governing body of the sport is to support its development around the world, ensure the rules are applied, involve athletes and help wheelchair fencing evolve.
To do this, and to reflect the model of the International Fencing Federation (FIE), IWAS Wheelchair Fencing has established various Commissions. These work independently and together to carry out different roles but all with one aim – to help wheelchair fencing grow.

Its mission is to examine all issues that concern the athletes and present suggestions or recommendations to any of the IWAS Wheelchair Fencing Commissions. Elections take place every four years with the next due to take place at the World Championships in 2021.
