Overview
Wheelchair Fencing Development
IWAS Wheelchair Fencing is committed to getting more people trying the sport and then going on to compete at the highest levels. This is done in many different ways and areas including competitions, classification refereeing and training.
Visit the wheelchair fencing calendar for details about satellite competitions, which were introduced to provide those new to the sport the platform to compete internationally.
IWAS Wheelchair fencing also offers regular training for officials and classifiers, as well as carrying out research to ensure the sport’s classification system is the best it can be. Another crucial part of the sport’s growth is accessibility.
To the right you will find materials for an inexpensive training frame which allows athletes to fix themselves on the piste and get a feel for a real competition.
Coaching videos are also available, aimed at those already working within able-bodied fencing, new coaches and athletes.
