Day Two @ IWAS Wheelchair Fencing U17/U23 World Championships

A total of 14 fencers demonstrated some very competitive fencing resulting in high pool scores in the epee competition. After the direct elimination rounds the four nations in the semifinals were Kuwait, Russia, Italy and Germany. The final was a repeat of day one with Russia and Italy competing for the gold medal.

A total of 14 fencers demonstrated some very competitive fencing resulting in high pool scores in the epee competition. After the direct elimination rounds the four nations in the semifinals were Kuwait, Russia, Italy and Germany. The final was a repeat of day one with Russia and Italy competing for the gold medal.

The two fencers; Alena Evdokimova (RUS) and Emanuele Lambertini (ITA) provided the spectators with a great display of epee tactics, the score staying very close all the way through the competition. Lambertini finally kept the score in his favour to win 15-14.

Final Medal positions:

Gold: Emanuele Lambertini

Silver: Alena Edvokimova

Bronze: Abdullah Alkaldi

Bronze: Maurice Schmidt

U17 Mixed Sabre

The U17 mixed sabre competition completed the days events. Although a small number of entrants for this competition the fencers demonstrated their skills and enthusiasm for this weapon. After an exciting display in the semi-finals, the final match between Victor Drovnov (RUS) and Chi Fung Ng (HKG) showed some impressive skills by both fencers before Drovnov pulled away for a final score of 15-8.
