IWAS Sport Assembly elects new Chairman for Wheelchair Fencing

Nations vote Poland’s Jakub Nowicki to be the new man in charge and to take the sport forward
Held during the IWAS World Games, the Wheelchair Fencing Sport Assembly included member nations from over 20 countries who are currently active in the sport.
Jakub Nowicki won the votes to become the new Chairman over that of his predecessor Alberto Vassallo Martinez (ESP) and Gabriela Mayer (CAN).
A further change to the IWAS Wheelchair Fencing Executive Committee (IWFEC) saw Udo Ziegler (GER) voted as the new Secretary General. Udo has been a member of the IWFEC since 2009 and the head of the Referee Commission for that period.
The elections also four new Member at Large members welcomed to the IWFEC, Gabriela Mayer (CAN), Giampiero Pastore (ITA), Hilary Philbin (GBR) and Pal Szekeres. Long standing member Nelson Tai (HKG) was also elected for a further four year term on the committee.
After the elections it was formally recognised by the member nations to thank Alberto for all his hard work during the 22 years he had been Chairman of Wheelchair Fencing. As there is no doubt his contribution had provided outstanding progress and achievements within the sport.
