IWAS Wheelchair Fencing Announce Satellite Competitions to Strengthen International Pathway

The Competitions will open up an international competition opportunity for upcoming wheelchair fencers and new developing Nations. 

In an effort to strengthen the international pathway of Wheelchair Fencing, the IWAS Wheelchair Fencing Executive Committee have announced the launch of Satellite Competitions in 2017.

The Competition, open to all Wheelchair Fencers with a national classification, will host individual open events for fencers from 13 years of age. The aim of the new tier of competition is to introduce developing wheelchair fencers to the international circuit as well as new and upcoming Wheelchair Fencing Nations.

A separate ranking list for the competition will also be in operation.

Hosting bids are now open for the competition as well as grant applications that will assist Local Organising Committees in logistical costs as well as the support of attending fencers. Developing nations with enthusiasm for the development and reach of Wheelchair Fencing are specifically invited to submit bids and grant applications for consideration.
