Sharjah, UAE to host 2015 IWAS Wheelchair Fencing U23 and U17 World Championships & IWAS WF Asia World Cup 2015

The International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) is pleased to announce that the successful bid to host the next IWAS Wheelchair Fencing U23 and U17 World Championships 2015 and IWAS WF Asia World Cup 2015.

The International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) is pleased to announce that the successful bid to host the next IWAS Wheelchair Fencing U23 and U17 World Championships 2015 and IWAS WF Asia World Cup 2015 has been awarded to the Althiqah Sports Club, Sharjah, UAE.

The two events will follow each other covering the period 14th to 21st December 2015 and will be held at the excellent facilities at the Althiqah Sports Club that also played host to the 2011 IWAS World Games and General Assembly of Nations.

Althiqah Sports Club also hosts the IWAS Regional Office and wheelchair fencing development is a major priority for them.  The hosting of these events will be a major accomplishment and assist in the promotion of the sport regionally.

This is the peak of the Rio 2016 Paralympics qualification period, so will be expecting all the top wheelchair fencers to attend the world cup as well as an opportunity for the next generation to showcase their talents.
